Minrex statement: the US continues to protect terrorists

by admin

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over a recent decision made by a judge in the Court for the District of Columbia in the United States. The judge acquitted Alexander Alazo Baró of four charges related to a terrorist attack on the Cuban Embassy in the US, citing alleged dementia conditions of the perpetrator.

Alazo, a Cuban immigrant living in the US since 2010, carried out a violent attack on the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in Washington. He fired 32 bullets from an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle, causing extensive damage to the building and putting the lives of the embassy staff at risk.

The terrorist confessed that he intended to harm anyone in his line of fire, showing a clear intention to cause harm. It is important to note that Alazo was associated with a religious center in Miami Dade known for its extremist views against Cuba.

The US government charged Alazo with four crimes, but the judge’s decision to acquit him raises questions about the handling of the case. The politicization of the attack against the Cuban Embassy is evident in the slow and opaque legal process that followed.

The decision to declare the perpetrator innocent sends a dangerous message of impunity to those who may contemplate violent actions against diplomatic missions. This incident, along with other recent attacks on the embassy, highlights the need for stronger measures to protect diplomatic personnel and premises.

These terrorist acts are a direct result of the aggressive rhetoric and policies of the US government towards Cuba. The continuous incitement of violence and hatred by certain American politicians and anti-Cuban groups has created a hostile environment that puts diplomatic missions at risk.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns these acts of terrorism and calls for justice to be served. The safety and security of diplomatic personnel and premises must be a top priority, and efforts should be made to prevent future attacks on embassies and diplomatic missions around the world.
