Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello, the new liquid-cooled 4-valve engine makes its debut

by admin

V100 Mandello is the name of the new Moto Guzzi that had been talked about for several months and that brings with it a small technical revolution for the Aquila brand. It was unveiled today during the presentation of the project for the new factory in Mandello del Lario, but its official debut will take place at Eicma in Milan on November 23rd. For now, therefore, Moto Guzzi has not spread all the technical features of the new motorcycle, but in any case we already know a lot. The engine, meanwhile, which, as the initials explains, has 1 liter of displacement, is a completely new project; always transversal 90 ° V-twin with cardanic final drive, as per the tradition of the Aquila, but liquid cooled and with 4 valves per cylinder distribution.

The power should be in the order of 100-120 hp, but it could also be higher since the bike on display had the rear tire of 190 / 50-17, a size usually found on super sports cars. The V100 Mandello, on the other hand, is a sport tourer and has a very balanced line but immediately recognizable as a Moto Guzzi. The version painted in red is the basic one, while the one in the centennial gray and green color is the richer one, with semi-active electronic suspensions by Ohlins. Speaking of technology, the front fairing and two small motorized wings on the sides of the tank make it the first production bike equipped with active aerodynamics, to better protect the rider’s torso and make journeys more relaxing.

The twin-cylinder is a stressed element of the frame, while the chassis includes an upside-down fork at the front and a beautiful single-sided swingarm at the rear, which integrates the cardan. The instrumentation is completely digital, with a TFT display very similar in the external layout to that seen on the most recent Aprilia. Like the latter, the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello will certainly also have a platform complete with electronic controls and adjustments. The front headlight is also very characteristic, with the LED daytime running light that forms the profile of the Eagle. Of course it is very early to talk about prices, but seeing the competition we can assume a starting base of about 15,000 euros.
