National Railways to Implement New Train Schedule Tomorrow

According to the Xinhua News Agency, starting from tomorrow, the national railways will implement a new train operation chart in an effort to strengthen connections between the central region, the Shandong Peninsula, and the Yangtze River Delta. The new schedule will see a total of 11,149 passenger trains operated daily, 233 more than the current schedule, and 22,264 freight trains operated daily, 40 more than the current schedule.

The China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. announced that the new train operation chart is a result of the railway department’s effort to optimize the train operation structure and improve the passenger and freight transportation capacity in the country. This adjustment comes as the railway department seeks to make full use of new railway lines, stations, and other transportation resources, and deepen the structural reform of the transportation supply side.

In terms of passenger transportation, the railway department plans to utilize new high-speed railway lines such as the Jizheng and Hangchang lines to better connect the central region with the Shandong Peninsula and the Yangtze River Delta region. Additionally, new capacity in the western region, including the Ziyi High-speed Railway, Lixiang Railway, Sichuan-Qinghai Railway, and Qingbai Jiangdong, will be optimized to better serve the western development strategy.

The new train schedule also aims to serve the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by optimizing the operation chart in the South China region. This will be achieved through the opening and operation of new stations and lines such as the Guangzhou Baiyun Station and the Shantou South to Shanwei section of the Ningbo-Guangzhou High-speed Railway.
