A measure awaited for 18 years is finally a reality

The Single National Table for compensation for non-pecuniary damage, awaited for 18 years, is finally a reality: it will guarantee victims of accidents the right to full and fair compensation for the damage suffered. A significant step forward towards greater certainty and uniformity of treatment, which will benefit both consumers and insurance companies. This provision is part of a broader path of structural reform of the insurance sector which is more necessary than ever: an act of responsibility towards our country, with the aim of guaranteeing efficiency and sustainability to the sector. The Government is there!

Thus the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Ursus after the approval of the Council of Ministers of the DPR scheme containing the “Table of impairments to psychophysical integrity between 10 and 100 points”, which regulates the compensation of the non-pecuniary damage for minor injuries (so-called macro injuries), understood in its component, both biological and moral.

The provision was created to guarantee the right for accident victims to have full ed fair compensation of non-pecuniary damage, while rationalizing the costs weighing on the insurance system and, consequently, the right of consumers to be guaranteed an acceptable and sustainable level of insurance premiums.

The Single National Table establishes a certain pecuniary value to be attributed to each single point of disability (biological damage), between ten and one hundred points, and is integrated by three further tables on compensation for moral damage. It was developed taking into account three specific aspects, which contribute to establishing the pecuniary value of the compensation to the injured party: permanent biological damage, or permanent damage to the psycho-physical integrity of the person, the economic value of which also varies based on age of the injured party, moral damage (internal psychological suffering) and temporary biological damage (temporary incapacity).
