Taking into account the strong summer season that Yopal is going through, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change responded to the call of the citizen oversight and community of La Iguana Park, to establish an action plan that allows the protection of this important sector. known as “the lung of the city”.

The Secretary of Environment and Climate Change, Víctor Manuel Rosas, explained that the main objective is to keep La Iguana park in optimal conditions of cleanliness and preservation of the fauna and flora, minimizing the risks of contamination.

The action plan includes cleaning activities, decoration, and especially, raising awareness among tourists and visitors to refrain from lighting bonfires or using combustion elements and thus minimize the risk of forest fires, which represent a great threat. for the environment this summer.

The consolidation of this action plan was carried out through a meeting with the park’s oversight office and former mayor Braulio Castelblanco as a representative of the community, who expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the Administration led by Mayor Marco Tulio Ruíz, to answer the citizen call.

This action plan will also be a transversal strategy for various agencies of the Municipal Administration and other organizations related to the environmental sector so that the requirements regarding factors such as security, restoration of affected areas and appointment of forest rangers can be met.

Finally, an invitation was extended to locals and visitors to enjoy La Iguana Park and the waters of the Cravo Sur River responsibly, preserving the flora and fauna, avoiding pollution of the environment and respecting civic standards of behavior.
