Nelli Differt secured an individual place for the Olympic Games in Paris at the MK stage in Budapest, but she can also get there with the women’s team, wrote Delfi.
Differt’s closest pursuer was Irina Embrich, but her second-round loss in Budapest meant she would be two points short of even winning the final event in China.
“My heart is happy that I’m at the Olympics, but it would be better to go there with my friends,” Differt said and admitted that he didn’t count the ranking points before or during the tournament.
Lehis, who won an individual bronze and a women’s gold at the Tokyo Olympics, did not qualify for the Paris Olympics because she gave up representing the epee women’s team and did not qualify for the Olympics on her own.
The women’s team can get to the Paris Olympics only if they win the Chinese WC.
