This Saturday it was announced that nine Colombian women who were reported missing in the State of Tabasco, Mexico, were located. All of them are in good health and under the protection of the Prosecutor’s Office of Tabasco, said Carlos Manuel Merino, governor of that state.
Through social networks, Merino stated that the women are in good health and under the protection of the Tabasco Prosecutor’s Office.
“I inform the public that 24 hours after the Tabasco Prosecutor’s Office was informed by the letter from the Colombian Consulate in Cancun, and after good investigative work by said Prosecutor’s Office, the Colombian women mentioned by the Consul were located. “who were allegedly missing,” he stressed on his X account.
“The women are in good health and are under the protection of the Tabasco Prosecutor’s Office to determine their situation. We will continue to report through official accounts and channels,” said Carlos Manuel Merino.
The nine women had been missing since January 5, when they were taken to attend a private party and were sexually exploited as escorts by a man identified as Saulo David Sánchez Zetina, ‘El Jaguar’, who allegedly heads a human trafficking network. women linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), according to a journalistic report.
Another group of colleagues who also worked at these types of parties stated that the missing women belonged to a group of between 50 or 70 women who were brought from Colombia by this trafficking network.
This network, which also has Colombian members, operates by contacting women in Colombia and taking them to Mexico where they are informed that they owe more than 120 thousand pesos and withdraw their passports, forcing them to work as escorts at private events.
It is believed that the women were detained due to a problem between leaders of that human trafficking network.
