Intangible Cultural Heritage of Dough Sculptures Promoted Through Tax Publicity Month in Luwang County

Luwang News, April 2 – The 33rd National Tax Publicity Month has kicked off in Luwang County, with a focus on promoting the intangible cultural heritage of dough sculptures. In a collaboration between the Ningyang County Taxation Bureau and the inheritors of the Tai’an intangible cultural heritage “Xu’s Dough Sculptures”, a series of tax publicity activities were held at Sidian Town Center Kindergarten.

Xu Xingtao, the inheritor of the dough sculpting skill in Tai’an City, demonstrated his intricate craft to young students, showcasing the traditional art form to the next generation. With a bamboo stick, a shaping knife, and a ball of clay dough, Xu Xingtao created vivid figures, emphasizing the importance of preserving and passing on traditional craftsmanship.

“I have been thinking that traditional craftsmanship cannot be lost and more young people, especially children, must be cultivated,” Xu Xingtao expressed. With a combination of children’s imagination and traditional dough sculptures, a fresh power is being cultivated to ensure the preservation of this cultural heritage.

To further promote the art of dough sculpting, Xu Xingtao has provided free teaching materials and classes to schools in Ningyang County, aiming to cultivate a new generation of dough sculptors. Additionally, the Ningyang County Taxation Department has offered customized tax services to support the development of the intangible cultural heritage industry, implementing preferential tax policies to reduce the burden on practitioners.

“It has always been my wish to inherit and develop the art of dough sculpture. The introduction of preferential tax policies has brought real benefits to enterprises and people, allowing society to release more vitality,” Xu Xingtao shared. Looking ahead, he plans to create a series of works centered around tax publicity, using dough sculptures as a medium to promote tax awareness.
