The investigation by the Florence prosecutor concerns the Open foundation, on the assumption that if a foundation turns into the logistical-financial arm of a politician, well, the funding for that foundation is to be equated with funding for a party. The investigation, which revolves around alleged illicit financing to Senator Matteo Renzi, via the Open foundation, has ended in recent days.

Twenty days ago, prosecutors Luca Turco and Antonino Nastasi sent an investigation notice to eleven people and four companies contesting, for various reasons, the illegal financing of parties, corruption, money laundering, the trafficking of influences. Now the cards have been deposited. Something begins to filter. The discovery therefore caused a sensation, that among the folds of the investigation there are the expenses that Senator Renzi has charged to “his” foundation: the remarkable figure of 548,900 euros for personal expenses between 2012 and 2018. But he still did more uproar was an article in the “Fatto Quotidiano” which tells of another report by the Guardia di Finanza, on income and not on expenses, by the senator.

From here we learn that in two years, from 2018 to 2020, transfers for 2.6 million euros have arrived on his current account. Legitimate and tracked collections, mind you. On which the senator regularly paid taxes. However, it is news that from Saudi Arabia, where he is almost at home for his “speeches”, Senator Renzi has collected about 80 thousand euros. From the company of the entrepreneur-agent Lucio Presta he obtained 635 thousand euros. From the British company “Celebrity Speakers”, which places lecturers around the world, another 500 thousand euros. From “Algebris”, by the Italian-English friend of the financier Davide Serra, 147 thousand. And so on, to climb.

Now, all this obviously ignites social media. But it raises questions. The person concerned is furious. He moved the lawyers. Announce complaints. And it promises battle. “They put my current account online – writes Matteo Renzi -, violating the Constitution and Laws. They chose a political opponent as a witness for the criminal prosecution. They picked up communications and wiretapping with a method that was even contested by the Supreme Court “.

Renzi sees a “political” use of justice by left-wing magistrates (even if the chief prosecutor of Florence, Giuseppe Creazzo, hated by the Renzi clan for years as the interceptions of Palamara & Ferri teach, is not at all of the current of left). “For years – he continues – they have been spending hundreds of thousands of euros and employing dozens of financiers for a manhunt theorized by the current of the judges of the Democratic Judiciary as the tightening of a“ sanitary cordon around Senator Renzi ”.
