On 13 and 14 April Piedmont will participate in ‘Cammini Aperti’, the most important national event dedicated to walking which will include 42 excursions, 2 for each region and autonomous province, with free excursions for a maximum of 50 people, together with guides and to the managing bodies.
The first walk in the Piedmontese territory, Saturday 13 April, of approximately 6.5 km and 460 meters of altitude difference (lasting 3 hours), will be to discover stage no. 1 of the ‘Occitan Routes’ starting from the Ciciu del Villar San Costanzo Nature Reserve.
The other excursion, Sunday 14 April, also 6.5 km long but with a difference in altitude of 173 meters (duration 3.5 hours) will take place along a portion of the second stage of the Superga – Vezzolano – Crea itinerary, a walk through vineyards with a view of the Turin hills. “Through ‘Cammini Aperti’ we intend to diversify and deseasonalize the tourist offer, conserve and promote the landscape at a national and international level, promoting the economy and local development of the rural Piedmontese territory – explains Vittoria Poggio, regional councilor for Tourism and Culture – Piedmont has an extraordinary hiking network made up of more than 147 itineraries for a total length of over 6 thousand kilometres”.
The ‘Open Cammini’ project, conceived by the Umbria Region as the leader of Slow Tourism, together with all the Italian regions, was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Enit, and is part of the broader tourist promotion plan ‘Discover the ‘Italy you didn’t know – Viaggio Italiano’, part of the 2022 National Promotion Plan.
