The Prime Video streaming platform has revealed the trailer for the documentary ‘Operation Hope: The Lost Boys in the Amazon’, which tells the incredible story of four children who survived for 40 days in the unforgiving Colombian Amazon after a plane crash.
With the voice of renowned Colombian singer Gloria ‘Goyo’ Emilse Martínez as narrator, the trailer transports viewers to a place where nature is sovereign and the spirits of the jungle seem to have an omnipresent presence.
The documentary recounts the dramatic accident that occurred on May 1, 2023, when a small plane crashed in the heart of the Amazon, leaving four children, aged between 1 and 13, completely alone in the jungle. It was not until June 9 that authorities managed to find them alive, after a rescue operation that involved the Colombian Army and local indigenous communities.
The film offers a look at the 40-day period in which the children fought to survive in a hostile environment, as well as the rescue efforts that ultimately returned them to civilization. In addition to testimonies from those who participated in the search, the documentary presents the children’s personal stories, providing an intimate look at their extraordinary odyssey.
Lesly Mucutuy, Soleiny Mucutuy, Tien Noriel Ranoque Mucutuy and Cristin Neriman Ranoque Mucutuy, the brave protagonists of this story, faced unimaginable challenges in their fight for survival after losing their adult companions in the accident.
The book ‘The Children of the Amazon’, written by journalist Daniel Coronell, has also explored the mysteries that surrounded this tragedy, which include theories about the intervention of mythological beings and the healing power of indigenous practices such as the consumption of yagé.
‘Operation Hope: The Lost Boys of the Amazon’ is scheduled to premiere April 26 on Prime Video, offering viewers a fascinating window into a story of survival and hope in the midst of the unforgiving Amazon rainforest.
