Parents closed the road due to non-compliance with works – DIARIO CRONICA

Closure of the main road, which connects Zamora Chinchipe and Morona Santiago, was closed.

Parents from the Arutam Millennium Educational Unit, in the El Pangui canton, province of Zamora Chinchipe, held a sit-in – with the closure of the Troncal Amazónica road, La Recta sector – due to non-compliance with works in the entity. The governor failed to solve the problem and sent the political chief.

Circumstances

The annoying wait of several months for the Ministry of Finance to allocate resources and execute various works at the Arutam Millennium Educational Unit caused parents to take a de facto measure.

Herminia Solano, mother of a student, pointed out that they have complied with all the formalities, including the contract for the execution of the work has been signed: Covering the blocks of the Arutam Educational Unit for an amount of USD 850 thousand; but, so far, the advance payment to start the work has not been delivered.

The National Police went to the sector and after a dialogue with the authorities and parents, they managed to enable the road. “The progressive use of force was not necessary and rather they were able to reconcile, for the good of the children who were at the site,” said one present.

Yesterday, they had planned a meeting with the governor of Zamora Chinchipe, Francisco Mesías Hidalgo, to find solutions to the problem; However, “to everyone’s surprise, the representative of the Executive did not attend—leaving the educational community in the lurch; In his place, the political leader and the district head of Education arrived, authorities who can do little or nothing,” said Herminia Solano.

They have not yet established what actions to take, but they are once again considering de facto measures—until they are heard by the Zamora authorities. (YO)
