People’s Clinic in Naples, free general medical visits – News

Free general medical visits, psychological support desk, gynecological consultations and help with booking visits and tests. These are just some of the services that the Popolare clinic will offer, starting from Saturday 4 November in the premises of the Casa del Popolo in Villa Medusa, to the citizens of Bagnoli and Fuorigrotta. This is how the center’s volunteers responded to the requests, received through a questionnaire administered to the residents of the populous neighborhoods.

“Citizens – we read in a note – have highlighted the critical issues linked to long waiting lists, and referred to the difficulties in booking tests and specialist visits, to a lack of connection between clinics, hospitals and doctors basis and in general to a difficulty in accessing services”. “The popular clinic of Villa Medusa – it is explained – aims to address these critical issues with immediate solutions and with the construction of a new health culture that determines a new horizon of struggle for the overall improvement of healthcare, starting from the territorial one “.

Villa Medusa already offers the neighborhood numerous activities ranging from day care for 200 elderly people to after-school care for children of needy families, all financially supported by social dinners and other self-financing initiatives.

“The pandemic crisis – we read in the press release – which arose in 2020 has highlighted the shortcomings of the National Health System, made more and more similar to a company, where profit has become the priority over people’s health. In the meantime, the reforms of the various governments have favored public support for private healthcare and cut billions of euros from the NHS, the consequences of which are the closure of hospitals, the absence of territorial facilities, the lack of hiring and a constant weakening in the face of an increasingly fragile and sick population” . “We will make use of the services of retired specialists – one of the promoters of the initiative explains to ANSA – but also of young doctors who will allow us to guarantee ever greater services in the future”.
