Plane crashes into Alaska river: No survivors found

by admin

A commercial plane crashed into an Alaska river and caught fire, with no survivors found, according to Alaska State Police. The Douglas DC-4 plane crashed into the Tanana River near Fairbanks, with the causes of the accident still unknown. The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation.

The plane had departed from Fairbanks International Airport in the morning and crashed about 11 kilometers away. It slid down a steep hill on the river bank and caught fire, creating a large column of smoke visible from afar. The US Federal Aviation Administration reported that there were two people on board, with doubts about additional passengers.

The aircraft was being operated by Alaska Air Fuel as a fuel transport flight. While the company confirmed operating the plane, they were not aware of the accident. Authorities have requested that people avoid the accident area, and air traffic in the region has been restricted.

Eyewitnesses expressed shock and sadness at the incident, with one passenger stating they initially thought it was a cabin on fire. Further statements from the police and aviation authorities are awaited.
