Police have to rescue a child stuck in a grabbing machine: “He really wanted a plush toy”

by admin

Police in Queensland, Australia, had to go to a shopping center on Saturday because a toddler was stuck in a grab machine. The boy, three-year-old Ethan Hopper, had crawled into the machine because he really wanted a hug from Hello Kitty.

According to dad Timothy Hopper, Ethan is an opportunist. “He likes grabbing machines and often dares to open the lid to crawl inside. Normally I can always stop him in time, but this time I looked back for two seconds and we won.” The father therefore called the vending machine’s helpline. “They immediately assumed that my money was stuck in the machine and that I wanted a refund,” says Hopper. “I said I didn’t want any money, but I wanted my son who was on the plane.”

The Queensland police were notified and they arrived at the shopping center fifteen minutes later to free the child. They had Ethan crawl to a corner of the machine so they could break the glass. And just over a minute later the boy could be removed from the machine. “He had the time of his life,” Hopper says afterwards.
