UDINE. The alarm launched by Commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo on the need to vaccinate the 215,000 teachers who are still missing the call to ensure, in September, an orderly and safe recovery of the pandemic does not concern Friuli Venezia Giulia.
In the region, in fact, the problems are linked to the overall adhesion to the national campaign – which suffers a gap of about ten points compared to the national average – but not to that of the school staff who have booked themselves in almost all cases.
On the subject of school, if anything, the difficulties, and they are not trivial in any case, are linked to the vaccinations of teenagers – that is, those in the age group between 12 and 19 years – who record membership rates of just 28%.
The vaccination trend of school staff was not homogeneous at the beginning and continues not to be so today, as explained by Figliuolo himself.
“There are regions, like Lazio – said the general -, in which we have 99.8% coverage and others that are below 80% and in which we need to make more efforts. We must try to convince about 215,000 teachers in total, and we hope to reach at least 180-190,000 vaccinated ».
The Regions to which Figliuolo refers are, in particular, Sicily, where more than 40% of the school staff have not received even the first dose, therefore the Province of Bolzano, Sardinia and Calabria with over 30% of “uncovered “, Liguria and Umbria over 20% of suspected no-vax.
In the last two weeks, more or less 20,000 teachers and janitors have been reached with the first injection. August 20 represents the deadline set to obtain the complete list of all those who, for health reasons, cannot undergo the vaccine and, above all, those who have no intention of joining.
Friuli Venezia Giulia, as mentioned, has more than a few problems in terms of membership, but as regards the school staff it can be proud of the coverage targets achieved. On the basis of data from the Region, updated to Tuesday, 27,000 924 of just over 28,000 people included in the category of school staff have booked vaccination, i.e. 99.8% with all teachers entering this quota.
Compared to the people who booked, moreover, 27 thousand 603, that is 98.9% of the adherents and 98.6% of the audience, got the first dose and 24 thousand 74, therefore 87.2% of those booked and 86% of those entitled, also the recall.
An excellent result, especially if we think of the confusion related to the immunization campaign of teachers and other school staff.
Suffice it to remember, in fact, that at the beginning this category was vaccinated with AstraZeneca serum, before undergoing an initial “stop”, and fortunately partial, in May by the same Son and then restarting, a few days later. , reopening reservations.
Finally, it should be borne in mind that operators and educators have also been included in the school staff – we are talking about one thousand 500 people – who are serving, or will do so in the coming weeks, in the summer centers opened in the region since June, as well as those who, for various reasons, have access to the facilities and collaborate with the managers in organizing and conducting activities for minors.
The true wound, local and also national, however, concerns the vaccinations of students as, moreover, always underlined by Figliuolo. At the moment, among school-age children between 12 and 19 years, the immunized with double dose are 188 thousand (4%), while 21% have obtained the first, just over a million people.
There are regions such as Tuscany where it was decided to postpone the appointments for teenagers to after August 15th, while Lazio rethought it after initially making the same decision. Friuli Venezia Giulia, in this sense, has not postponed any booking, neither for teenagers nor for citizens of more adult age, but pays, in any case, the bill for an adhesion that is anything but excellent.
According to the figures of the Government, and which are based on Istat statistics, the audience of those aged between 12 and 19 in the region is equal to 85,000 565 children.
Also on Tuesday, therefore, 24,000 190 were booked – that is 28% and who must be immunized with an mRna vaccine – with 14,000 736 who received the first dose – therefore 17.22% of the audience – and just 2 thousand 186 – therefore 2.55% – even the recall.
It is difficult, in a nutshell, that with such small numbers it is possible to guarantee a return to school in total safety and that is why, albeit informally, some regional councilors have begun to discuss the possibility of asking the Government to differentiate between those covered by the vaccine, and would be allowed to return to class, and who, on the other hand, is without it and would, instead, be forced to continue with Dad.
