Project administration in Jira made easy – learning paths in the Seibert Academy

Can you imagine a working world without Jira (Cloud)? If we were to ask this question to software developers or – more generally – agile teams, the answer would certainly be “no”. After all, they would otherwise have to do without Scrum and Kanban boards, prepared data in reports, advanced roadmaps, work-saving automation and much more.

With Jira Software, teams can plan large projects, break them down into smaller tasks, and track them. Atlassian’s project management tool allows you to customize workflows to fit the way your team works and gives you the tools to estimate, measure and report team productivity over time. Admittedly, the great flexibility and wealth of features in Jira mean that project administration is a little more complex than you might be familiar with from other tools.

But no worry! The “Jira Project Administration” learning path in our Seibert Academy helps you configure your projects in a targeted manner and thus create the basis for effective teamwork and successful project management.

Project administration in Jira: How to become an admin professional!

The Seibert Academy is our e-learning platform with which you can educate yourself on a wide variety of topics in the Atlassian world. With the help of our learning paths, you will quickly get an overview of which essential and optional courses you should take and in what order in order to become proficient in using a particular tool. After introducing you to the learning paths “Your move to Jira Cloud” and “Your start in Jira Cloud” over the past two weeks, today we’ll take a look at how you, as a Project Admin or Jira Product Admin, can set up your Jira project so that your team can work in the best possible way.

Let’s dive straight into the specific content of the educational path, which is currently still under construction:

Introduction to Jira Workflows (Cloud)

Workflows describe the process that a process (or “issue”) goes through in Jira. This includes multiple statuses and status transitions (also called “transitions”). In addition to the standard workflow (“Simplified Workflow”), Jira offers a workflow editor with which you can adapt these processes to your company’s work processes.

Do you want to know how you can put together an individual workflow and use conditions, post functions, transition screens, validators and properties sensibly? Then this one-hour course with our Jira expert Jan is right for you!

Advanced Roadmaps in Jira (Cloud)

With “Advanced Roadmaps” for Jira Software Premium and Jira Software Enterprise, you can strategically plan and control your work. Plan around your teams’ capabilities, track dependencies, prioritize competing tasks, and simulate alternative scenarios. Best of all, you experiment in a safe sandbox environment before updating your original data in Jira Software. This allows you to test different options and determine the optimal approach without endangering existing projects.

In the Academy course, our trainer and consultant Ingmar will show you, among other things, how you can create and configure a plan, work with the timeline, implement scenario planning or determine rights management.

Basics of project configuration in Jira Service Management

Jira Service Management (JSM) is Atlassian’s help desk solution and enables efficient request, incident, problem, change, asset, knowledge and configuration management. However, before you can use the tool sensibly, it needs an initial configuration adapted to the needs of your company. But what is the best way to do this?
