Trump is being prosecuted for 34 criminal counts related to accounting tampering. For example, the processing of payments to the porn actress is said to have been tampered with, to prevent her from disclosing details about the affair between the two. The payments were made in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, which Trump won.

Court documents show that Trump’s team had asked for a 90-day delay. The defense had received 73,000 pages of potentially relevant material by early March.

The Manhattan prosecutor says he has no objection to giving Trump an extra thirty days at most to study judicial documents. This case is likely to be the first of four criminal cases against Trump to be brought to trial.
