On the evening of Wednesday, January 31, the Hebrew Channel 14 reported that an Arab official who agreed with Hamas to release thousands of prisoners in exchange for hostages in Gaza stated that Qatar is preparing to announce a ceasefire next Saturday.

According to the report, there is real progress between the two sides, as it indicates that Egypt is striving to obtain these summaries before or during the first days of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit.

The Hebrew channel indicated that it is assumed that agreements have been reached in preparation for such an announcement.

It stated that Israel would not be asked for a ceasefire, but rather a long truce, and that the Israeli army would not withdraw from the Gaza Strip, but would regroup its ranks outside the cities of the Gaza Strip.

She explained that a large number of Palestinian prisoners are expected to be released.

The Hebrew channel indicated that Israel agreed to another deal with Hamas that could lead to the end of the war.

According to the report, the agreement will include the release of the remaining Israeli hostages in stages, and the process is expected to begin with the release of women and children who are still in captivity, in exchange for a cessation of hostilities, an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

For his part, a senior Hamas official confirmed on Tuesday, January 30, to Reuters that the deal is expected to include three stages. In the first stage, civilians will be released, including women, children, the elderly, and the sick. In the second stage, all soldiers will be released.
