The hairpin bends of the San Boldo overcharged with sheep in transhumance between the Treviso and Bellunese have been around the web. More than a thousand. A unique show, even commented with emotional tones. “It is nice to see how even today this ancient rite is still intact, a ritual of the shepherds’ world that invariably reminds us how much even the simplest things can still amaze” commented the governor Luca Zaia the images of Marina Lea Zaffaroni.
Coldiretti shared, but immediately after raising the problems that the transhumance underlies. “We now expect the regional law on pasture routes, the last one approved unanimously in the last legislature of the Region, to be applied quickly. Unfortunately, the law is still orphaned by a competent councilor »complains Chiara Bortolas, managers of the agricultural organization. The long-awaited rule is the one that introduces the routes, the paths in the mappings and harmonizes the regulations of the passage of animals during the movement of flocks and herds.
Discomforts are complained by farmers and also by some local administrators (not to mention the patience of motorists, such as those who had to wait in line for tens of minutes on the San Boldo). But the heaviest difficulties are those of the shepherds who, coincidentally, are increasingly young, even women.
“This legislation is the culmination of a project promoted by the farmers of Coldiretti – explains Bortolas – and represents a political awareness of a strategic reality for the protection of livestock, the conservation of endangered breeds for the production of cheeses and local specialties otherwise lost ».
“With the urbanization of the countryside, the administrative constraints, strict rules, the sanctions provided for, the scarcity of meadows, the presence of wild animals and large carnivores, the health ordinances, transhumance still risks oblivion – protests Bortolas – the Region has the opportunity to rewrite history by pioneering ». –
