The Government of Casanare, through the Disaster Risk Management Directorate, announces the Red Alert issued by IDEAM in the bulletin of hydrometeorological conditions 0033, in response to the high threat of forest fires presented by 16 municipalities of the department. . The situation has intensified due to the high temperatures recorded in recent days.

The municipalities involved in this early warning correspond to Aguazul, Chámeza, Hato Corozal, La Salina, Maní, Monterrey, Nunchía, Orocué, Paz de Ariporo, Recetor, Sabanalarga, San Luis De Palenque, Tauramena, Trinidad, Támara and Yopal.

Guillermo Velandia Granados, director of Risk Management in Casanare, urgently calls on municipal authorities to keep emergency response strategies active. Likewise, he urges communities to refrain from burning to prepare pastures and conucos (the so-called cultural burnings), in a joint effort to protect forests, animals, and homes, especially in rural areas.

“In times like these, the collaboration and commitment of the entire community is essential to face the dry season influenced by the El Niño phenomenon. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and coordinate preventive actions,” declares engineer Velandia.

For his part, Captain Jonh Jairo Manosalva, Departmental Firefighters delegate, reported that to date only seven municipalities (Monterrey, Maní, Yopal, Pore, Sabanalarga, Villanueva and Aguazul) are complying with the firefighter agreement, which gives them greater tools. to relief agencies to provide timely attention to emergencies.

However, it should be noted that of the 14 brigades against forest fires in Colombia, certified by the Ministry of the Interior, Casanare has two brigades that correspond to Yopal and Aguazul, which gives us a capacity of approximately 60 specialized units, ready and active to face the conflagrations that arise.

Also, Casanareños are asked to report any sign of fire to the official channels: Firefighters 119, Red Cross 3102539991, Civil Defense 144, single emergency line 123.
