It stood on the roof of one of the highest buildings in Piazzale Osoppo
UDINE. For over thirty years it has marked the days of the people of Udine, marking the time and temperature of the air. On the morning of Friday 20 May the large sign of the “Cassa di Risparmio del Friuli Venezia Giulia” placed on one of the highest buildings in piazzale Osoppo, was removed.
The operations lasted a long time and required the use of a large crane. No problem for the traffic, which has suffered some slowdowns only for the curiosity of motorists to see one of the symbols of the city removed, positioned in the mid-80s.
By now the Cr of the Fvg (formerly Crup) no longer exists, having become Intesa Sanpaolo and this is precisely one of the reasons that convinced the top management of the institute to remove the large sign.
It remains to be seen whether it will be replaced with a new writing, or whether the people of Udine will have to get used to being orphaned by the big clock and the thermometer at the entrance to the city, which have been the backdrop for hundreds of photos over the decades.
