Residents of Los Girasoles are tired of fires and garbage in an abandoned lot

On Wednesday night, a fire broke out in a lot in Los Girasoles, an urbanization located on the road to the town of La Mesa, in the municipality of Valledupar. The flames frightened the community, which claims that this is not the first time they have been affected.

“We don’t know the causes, when we saw it was the flames. That caught fire in the back of the houses. This urbanization is between Flores de María I and the Comfacesar Citadel,” said Nancy López, one of the residents of the sector.

THE FIRE WAS LIQUIDATED

Members of the Valledupar Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the site and attended to the emergency, although they told EL PILÓN that they do not know the causes. Furthermore, according to the residents, this Thursday morning they had the support of the Interaseo company to clean the area. However, residents are concerned about a new fire.

“There are several lots, we are fighting with the owners to please clean them because there are only 20 houses and it seems that the owners of the other lots do not show up here. There have been snakes in one of the houses and it almost bit a child,” López added.

The complainant also said that some recyclers throw garbage in the place: “And since the lot is mounded and dry due to the summer, I think that was what caused it. This is the third time this has happened. “A neighbor’s house was affected by the flames.”
