Romano Prodi meets students in Pisa – News

Romano Prodi will be the last guest of the ‘Sguardi nel Futuro’ exhibition of the University of Pisa, on 19 March at 4pm at the Polo Carmignani, in Piazza dei Cavalieri.

The economist and politician, former president of the European Commission and president of the Council of Ministers, will meet students from the University and from the last classes of high schools to talk about the global crisis and the European crisis.

The scenario that Prodi will outline, explain the organizers of the meeting, “runs from 1945 to today, a period in which despite many local conflicts, much of the world has had 75 years of peace. But the future appears less reassuring as the news reports who come from Ukraine, Palestine, Taiwan. With the East and West poles waning, the planet has in fact become multipolar: the West, Russia, China, India, South America, Arab countries and Africa in full demographic boom. One of the central issues is therefore to understand the role that the European Union will have, if for example it manages to give itself a foreign policy with a weight equal to its economic importance”.

The event will be streamed, registration is required to participate in the presence of Unipi students.

‘Looks into the future’ is an initiative organized by professor Dario Pisignano, of the Center for innovation and diffusion of culture (Cidic) of the University of Pisa, and by the popularizer and journalist Piero Bianucci. This first cycle which began in October 2023 hosted Umberto Agrimi of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, the former magistrate Gherardo Colombo, Nicola Armaroli of the Cnr-Isof, the senator for life Elena Cattaneo, Roberto Battiston, former president of the Italian Space Agency, Fosca Giannotti, computer science professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore, and Gianfausto Ferrari, president of Digital universitas, founder of Talent Garden and Superpartes Innovation Campus, and the president of the Cnr Maria Chiara Carrozza. To date, it is explained, there are around 1000 students who participated in the various events of the cycle.
