Matteo Salvini is on his way to the border between Poland and Ukraine. A mission announced in recent days, but completed without too much fanfare. The first stop of the League leader is Warsaw, from there the goal is to reach the border with Ukraine, which explodes with people fleeing the war. Salvini’s aim is to concretely show his pacifist “conversion”, “stop the war” he repeated yesterday, trying to extinguish the controversy over his proximity to Vladimir Putin and his Free Russia party.
The program is not yet detailed, diplomatic circles have advised against a public visit to crisis areas. It is not excluded that the leader of the League may cross the Ukrainian border to reach, at least for a few hours, the city of Lviv.
