A third and three firsts forced to finish the year following the lessons in dad. Filippis: “For those who have to take the exam, the calendar will be flexible”

SAN GIORGIO CANAVESE

Only two cases of positivity among the 148 students of the Carlo Botta first grade secondary school in San Giorgio Canavese have obliged, at the disposal of the ASL / To4 Sisp, the management of the comprehensive school to quarantine, from the middle of last week , 4 classes. A third and three first, which will follow the last days of lessons through distance learning. The school year ends on Friday 11 June.

The case is different for the students of the third grade B who will have to take the exam. «The calendar of the exams – explains the manager Filomena Filippis – has not yet been prepared. On Friday, with the end of the lessons, the ballots will be held for admission to the exam and to assign the marks and report cards to the rest of the students. The following Monday will be prepared the calendar that we will make flexible in order to allow the test in presence also to the class in quarantine. The latest date for the exam is June 28th. So in that time frame it is very likely that the infected pupil becomes negativized and that no other cases of positivity occur. Or so we hope. Otherwise, the exam will take place in dad ».

«I am sorry for the situation that has arisen in the last days of school – concludes Filippis -. This quarantine comes after a heavy year in which the greatest inconveniences due to the lack of normal school relationships were suffered by the middle school children. But we must adapt to the provisions of the health authority ».

Indeed, some parents were hoping for a less drastic measure. «It seems exaggerated – says a class representative – that for only two positive students four classes have been quarantined. For the first classes, the school trips that had been scheduled at the last minute after the resumption of face-to-face lessons were canceled. While for the third grade students a trip was postponed taking advantage of the summer repetition courses ».

Meanwhile, the mayor of San Giorgio Andrea Zanusso informs that there are currently four cases of positivity to Covid -19 in the town. “Fortunately – Zanusso simply says – the situation is improving thanks to the effectiveness of the vaccination campaign. Our municipality also had to deal with the pandemic that had developed with an outbreak in the nursing home. On the school front, on the other hand, we are ready to start with the summer camp which we have also extended to non-residents ».

The next school year, based on the calendar approved by the council of the Piedmont Region, will start on 13 September and end on 8 June for a total of 205 days. For kindergartens, lessons will end on June 30th. Established the periods of Christmas, carnival and Easter, as well as a bridge on the occasion of the Epiphany. “The novelty of this year and only for the 2021/2022 school year – explained the regional councilor for education Elena Chiorino – is the insertion of the” flexibility clause “gata to the carnival holidays, as established in the Conference for the right to study and free educational choice. This step introduces a safeguard clause for lessons in the event of an increase in infections and the possible adoption of measures for the prolonged closure of schools. Only in this case, the carnival holidays can be canceled in whole or in part subject to the adoption of a suitable measure by 10 January 2022 ».
