Ten days after a shooting at his school, an American school director has died from his injuries. American media report this. Dan Marburger was considered a hero for trying to distract the shooter to protect his students.

Marburger was injured – along with four students and two other staff members – when a 17-year-old student opened fire at Perry High School in the town of the same name on January 4. The man had tried to calm and distract the shooter so his students could leave the building.

An 11-year-old boy died in the shooting, Marburger was seriously injured but taken to hospital in a stable condition. The man died there on Sunday from his injuries.

“The entire state is heartbroken by this news,” Governor Kim Reynolds announced. “He bravely placed himself in the midst of danger to protect his disciples, and gave his life to save them. He will always be remembered for his heroic actions.”

According to his daughter, her father was “a gentle giant, a great father, and a wonderful person.”
