In a joint effort to strengthen the response capacity for forest fires in the department of Casanare, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in a logistical coordination, with the Casanare Sectional Red Cross headed by Blanca Hilda Hernández ; delivered a supply to eight fire departments in this territory.
At the formal ceremony, which was attended by the director of Risk Management of the Government of Casanare, Guillermo Velandia, and the departmental delegate of Firefighters, Captain John Jairo Manosalva, the joint commitment to the integration of the Management System was highlighted. of Risk in the country.
The municipalities that benefited from these tools were San Luis de Palenque, Paz de Ariporo, Orocué, Aguazul, Maní, Tauramena, Yopal and Hato Corozal.
These teams are the result of timely management following the declaration of the National Disaster due to the effects of the El Niño phenomenon. Blowers, scythes, chainsaws, drip burners, weather kits, personal protection element kits were received; standardized helmet, gloves, jacket and pants, among other elements, discriminated according to the need of the relief agency and the number of fires reported during this natural phenomenon.
In this relationship, a swimming pool with a capacity for 4,800 gallons of water stands out, an invaluable resource in the fight against forest fires, delivered to the Casanareña capital.
With this delivery, the operational capacity of emergency response agencies is strengthened, ensuring better preparation for continuous climate change and the current El Niño phenomenon.
