Islamabad: Shahbaz Sharif has been elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time. The PML-N president got 201 votes. Umar Ayub, the nominated candidate of Sunni Unity Council, got 92 votes.
According to New News, 169 votes were required to become the Prime Minister. Apart from PML-N, PPP, MQM and Balochistan Awami Party also voted for Shehbaz Sharif and boycotted the election of JUI as Prime Minister.
Sardar Akhtar Mengal did not cast his vote despite his presence in the House. PML-N members raised slogans in happiness after Shahbaz Sharif was elected as Prime Minister. After being elected as the Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif went to the seats of the allies and shook hands with them and thanked them.
