The 2024 Municipal Propaganda Ministers’ Conference was recently held in Tianjin, with a focus on studying and practicing Xi Jinping’s Cultural Thoughts to create a new situation in propaganda, ideological, and cultural work. Guided by Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the conference aimed to convey and implement the spirit of the National Propaganda Ministers’ Conference and the deployment requirements of the Municipal Party Committee.
Shen Lei, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting. Vice Mayor Zhang Ling presided over the conference and made requests for the upcoming year’s tasks.
In the meeting, it was emphasized that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and is a critical year for Tianjin to implement the “14th Five-Year Plan” and comprehensively build a modern socialist metropolis. Therefore, the city’s publicity, ideological, and cultural front must thoroughly study and practice Xi Jinping’s cultural thoughts, grasp its significance, and strengthen learning, training, theoretical research, as well as publicity and interpretation efforts.
The meeting outlined several key areas for focus, including deepening theoretical arming, improving the guidance of public opinion, promoting the construction of socialist core values, enhancing the effectiveness of international communication, and upholding the party’s cultural leadership. The aim is to contribute to the comprehensive construction of a socialist modern metropolis.
The conference also stressed the importance of promoting the prosperity and development of cultural undertakings and cultural industries, as well as strengthening the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage. It was highlighted that the integration and cultivation of new driving forces for the development of cultural industries and the deepened integration of culture and tourism are also vital areas of focus.
The meeting concluded with a call for comprehensive strengthening of the construction of the propaganda, ideological, and cultural front, with an emphasis on attention to politics, practicing skills, maintaining a strict work style, and strengthening the team.
