Sweden holes closed to hikers until the end of May

The Sweden holes in Saxon Switzerland are closed to hikers until the end of May. The climb through the rocky gorges between the health resort of Rathen and the Bastei is being further renovated. Among other things, the heavily rusted iron supports of the climbing system are to be replaced.

The work would not be finished until Easter and there should be a temporary solution for hikers to cross the Schwedenloch during the May holidays. According to the National Park and Forestry Administration, construction work should be completed by the end of May. Until then, there is a signposted diversion on a scenic path from the Bastei over the Amselgrund to Rathen.
