Luo Changping, a well-known mainland media person, has been bombarded by state media for several days for questioning the war justice of the film, and Weibo has also been banned.
According to Lu Media, “Changjin Lake” has been in theaters since September 30. As of 9:32 on October 7, the film had a gross box office of 3.39 billion yuan. But outsiders questioned the film’s “box office flooding.”
The Chinese Communist Party’s official media touted the film as “a vivid interpretation of the great spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aid to Korea” and “becoming the box office champion of Chinese film history movies”.
On October 6, Luo Changping posted on Sina Weibo, “Half a century later, Chinese people rarely reflect on the justice of this war, just like the Sand Sculpture Company back then did not doubt Shangfeng’s wise decision.”
During the Battle of Changjin Lake, the “Volunteer Army” of the Chinese Communist Party in the play was frozen to death into “ice sculptures” due to the severe cold weather. The Chinese Communist Party officially portrayed the “Ice Sculpture Company” as a “heroic image” of “resisting US aggression and aiding Korea.”
Luo Changping referred to the “Ice Sculpture Company” in the play as the “Sand Sculpture Company”, and “Sand Sculpture” in Internet language means “stupid and brainless”.
Luo Changping’s above remarks immediately caused official media such as the CCP’s “Communist Youth League Central Committee” Weibo, “Liberation Army Daily” and other official media to issue bombardments, accusing him of “insulting heroes.”
Subsequently, Luo Changping’s personal Weibo was reported by mainland netizens. Under pressure, Luo Changping deleted the relevant content. On October 6, the official Weibo account marked Luo Changping’s account as “violating the community convention”.
It was also reported on the Internet that Luo Changping was investigated by the Hainan Sanya police on the evening of the 7th, but the news has not yet been officially confirmed.
According to public information, Luo Changping served as a core reporter and editor-in-chief of the in-depth reporting department of the Beijing News, and deputy editor-in-chief of Caijing magazine and concurrently deputy editor-in-chief of LENS Vision magazine. Now he is the chairman of Tianjiao Legal Group.
In addition to Luo Changping, the Chinese self-media “DeepFocus” (DeepFocus) published an article under the topic “Who is it dedicated to?”, criticizing “Changjin Lake” for investing a large amount of manpower and funds, but in the end it was unsatisfactory. To put it bluntly, “the production is rough and the traces of rush to work are obvious.”
The article also pointed out that in some of the shows that are full, some of the actual audience is only half, implying that there is a “water injection” component in the box office. The article was not only deleted, but the WeChat public account of “Shen Jiao” was also blocked on the 14th.
According to Hong Kong media reports, a theater in Zibo City, Shandong Province gathered party members and cadres to watch the film collectively, and officials from Hebei and Guangdong provinces also arranged party members and cadres to watch it together.
Radio Free Asia overseas reported that “Changjin Lake” will start shooting in October 2020, when the Sino-US confrontation is becoming more and more obvious. The Central Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China and the State Film Bureau directly control and allocate huge funds, and are directly supported by the Central Military Commission. Wan active-duty soldiers participated in the exercise and completed the filming in just six months. Some commentators believe that the authorities intend to use the film to implement a public opinion war against the United States.
Observer Zhang Yunbo said that tens of millions of people watched a movie that distorted the facts, and even talked about it. This means that the CCP’s continuous brainwashing has direct consequences. The level of ignorance in society as a whole is still not optimistic.
The CCP has always avoided talking about the “Changjin Lake” battle, and recently touted it as a “huge strategic victory.”
The Battle of Changjin Lake is also known as the “Battle of Changjin Lake”. Public information shows that the CCP secretly participated in the war in November 1950.
