The vaccination campaign for children between 5 and 11 years starts on Thursday 16 in Treviso

TREVISO. An agreement has been signed between the health company Ulss2 Marca Trevigiana and pediatricians to start the vaccination campaign aimed at children aged between 5 and 11 years. Bookings on Tuesday morning had already reached 1,689 out of the 10,113 seats available in the dedicated section on the website www.aulss2.veneto.it. Most of those booked are between 9 and 11 years old. The injections will be administered starting from Thursday 16 at the Ca ‘Foncello hospital in Treviso. Dedicated lines are set up in the Vax points activated in the province of Treviso with hours concentrated in the afternoon hours.

“Vaccinating children is important because they are at risk of incurring multiorgan inflammatory syndrome” underlined the director general of Ulss 2 Francesco Benazzi “In this period, with the fourth wave, in pediatrics we have had 10 hospitalized children. Currently there is only one patient ». The two doses of Pfizer vaccine, 10 micrograms each, will be administered by pediatricians.

Says the secretary of the pediatricians federation of Treviso Giovanni Franco Battaglini: «The vaccine is done to protect children, to prevent them from ending up in hospital, not just to protect adults. scientific research highlights the likelihood of incurring myocarditis for children with Covid 19 ».

The “fragile” children will be vaccinated at home by their pediatricians, the campaign will involve all the hospitals in the province, excluding the San Valentino di Montebelluna.
