Terror suspect is transferred to Austria

A Tajik imprisoned in Germany in connection with a potential terrorist attack on St. Stephen’s and Cologne Cathedral will be extradited to Austria. The spokeswoman for the Vienna public prosecutor’s office, Nina Bussek, confirmed corresponding reports from “Kurier” and “Heute”. Accordingly, the authorities granted a request in this regard. It is not yet clear when the man will be brought to Austria.

The Tajik is said to have filmed St. Stephen’s Cathedral and was one of the reasons why he came onto the radar of investigators. The arrest of a couple in Vienna, also from Tajikistan, is also related to him. The two are in custody in Vienna.

The trio is said to have planned an attack on St. Stephen’s Cathedral at Christmas. There was also talk of an attack on Cologne Cathedral.
