Eyes on the large municipalities of Lombardy in this round of 2022 administrative elections. It is a crucial day not only for Como, Monza, Lodi and Sesto San Giovanni (which, although not the provincial capital, represents the former red fort on the outskirts of Milan that the center-left tries to recapture). In fact, it could become an important test on the basis of how the votes will be composed within the same coalitions, highlighting the balance of power.
In fact, a creeping tug-of-war is underway between Lega e Fdi (also visible in the choice of the local candidates themselves): the two parties will count on the historical territory of the Carroccio.
On the other hand, the “approval” of the wide field of center leftwith the Democratic Party at the helm and the 5 Star Movement as the main ally in some Municipalities.
A fact not taken for granted, the latter, both for reasons strategic than tactical. First of all, the center-left will have to understand if this alliance works, given that in both parties there is still the residue of the past antagonism; moreover, the Democratic Party chooses to embrace the Grillo movement just as it is imploding, especially in a region where it has never shone.
A Sesto San Giovanni there are 6 candidates, including Roberto di Stefano, outgoing mayor looking for reconfirmation, now a Northern League player after leaving Forza Italia. He has his own civic list, which will also serve to measure the weight of his own name, after a mandate characterized by aggressive communication. Sesto, for example, has the record of urban “daspo” against Roma and squatters, often more symbolic than practical, but which have found support from the population.
