The Pitalito Volunteer Fire Department announced the discovery of the lifeless body of Jhon Ernesto Toro Urquina, a young man of just 17 years of age.

The unfortunate event took place today, March 21, around 12:10 pm, in the Magdalena Riverspecifically in the sector known as El Remolino, located in the Versalles village of the municipality of Pitalito.

The Fire Department spent several hours making an arduous effort to recover the young man’s body. Using various search techniques, including soverflights with drones and aquatic search with the use of anchors, the rescue units managed to locate the body of Jhon Ernesto. The collaboration of family, friends and community members was essential during the search process, facilitating the work of firefighters in this delicate and crucial task.

This tragic event has plunged the entire community of Pitalito and its surroundings into pain. The young Jhon Ernesto Toro Urquina, at just 17 years old, leaves an irreparable void in the hearts of his loved ones and in the community in general. The news has deeply impacted all those who knew the young man and who now regret his premature departure.

It is worth mentioning that the young man was yesterday afternoon in said sector taking a bath, when he was swept away by the waters of the river that did not give him time to ask for help. Since then, the search for his body began and ended today around noon.
