— A vase for a bouquet is like a frame for a picture…

– Indeed. There are many varieties of vases in shape and size. The largest ones are floor ones. Such vases served to decorate palaces. In ancient times, only kings and emperors could afford them. Ordinary people could only dream of such luxury. There are vases both for one flower and for large bouquets. Small vases can be placed not only on the table, but also on the windowsill, chest of drawers… They bring special aesthetics to the home and please the eye.

I want to tell a parable about a vase that changed the life of a family. A poor fisherman lived in a miserable shack. He used to go out to sea on an old boat to catch fish and thereby earn a living for his family. Once he brought the catch to the market, and a foreigner approached him and said: “Give me the fish for this vase, because I have no coins with me. Believe me, it costs a hundred times more than fish. It’s just that I’m going on a long journey and I don’t want to take too much with me.” The fisherman agreed and brought home an amazing vase. The wife and children could not admire her, because they had never seen such beauty before. Later, the fisherman and his wife decided to sell it, but the woman suddenly said: “We never had nice things. So, let’s keep her to ourselves.” So they did. The fisherman picked flowers in the field and placed them in a vase. And the house immediately became more cozy. The wife wanted to hang new curtains. After all, the vase needed beauty around it. The fisherman returned home and was amazed at how the house had changed. In a good mood, he decided to build a new boat, which later allowed him to have a larger catch. So, earnings became better and life began to improve. And after some time, the family already lived in a new house, and an amazing vase took pride of place in it.

“Ideally, the height of the vase should be one and a half times less than the height of the flower stems”

— How to choose the perfect vase for flowers?

— A decorative vase is a capacity that should emphasize the beauty of a flower bouquet. So, this should be remembered. For example, the small vases created by the porcelain makers of the Vasylkiv Plant for the Protoryevs are suitable for low-growing spring flowers.

Ideally, the height of the vase should be one and a half times less than the height of the flower stems. That is, for 50-centimeter roses, a vase with a height of about 30 centimeters is needed. When choosing, you should start from what bouquets you like. For miniature flowers, choose small vases in the form of a jug, glass or amphora. For tall flowers without leaves, elongated glass or porcelain vases are suitable. For bright flowers, it is best to choose plain vases. If you want to emphasize the beauty of the vase, complement it with roses of pastel light shades. If the vase is black, choose red, yellow, purple or orange flowers. Vases of exquisite design mainly serve to emphasize the originality of the interior of the room. In this case, you can place one flower in the vase. And even without flowers, such a vase will decorate the interior. It is better to put wild flowers in ceramic jugs or clay pots. Tulips, daffodils, irises will look good in round, cylindrical, rectangular or square glass flasks.

— How to fit a vase into the interior?

– No matter how beautiful the vases are, you don’t need to put a lot of them in the room. Experts recommend having one large or two small vases in one room. However, if you collect vases, these rules do not apply to you. Guests are always interested in admiring the collection, and its owner likes it too. Designer floor vases are best placed on consoles next to a wall lamp.

— What omens are associated with vases?

— It is believed that broken dishes always bring happiness. But it turns out that what kind of dishes broke and under what circumstances is also important. If you accidentally broke an expensive vase, it portends financial success. If you have an ordinary vase, it means changes in your personal life. If a vase with flowers falls, it’s bad luck. If the cat touched the vase and it broke, it is possible that someone in the family had an extraneous relationship. It is not worth keeping a broken item in the house – according to beliefs, it attracts negativity. You can’t even use chipped dishes – it is believed that this leads to poverty and misunderstandings in the family. And drinking from a chipped cup and eating from such a plate is dangerous, because the glass can get into the food. Debris should be collected in a rag, carefully wrapped and thrown away together with the rag. It is believed that this is how you can get rid of negativity in the house. Vases with flowers create a special mood in the home, give it coziness and comfort.
