The contract has expired: the pupils without the teacher in the middle school exam

The parents of the students of three classes of the Piccoli di Cividale are worried. “No response from the regional school office”

CIVIDAL. On the day of the eighth grade exam they will not face their own German teacher in the commission, the one who followed them this year with such complex teaching.

The students of three third classes, in fact, of the Elvira and Amalia Piccoli middle schools find themselves without a reference point that is important to them due to a pure bureaucratic quibble, the expiry, that is, of the teacher’s contract in question, falling within that additional staff assigned to institutions to meet the needs of the Covid-19 emergency.

Incredulous about what happened, which they define as “paradoxical”, the parents of the pupils sent – last Friday – a letter to the regional school office, requesting a measure.

“But we have not received any response”, underlines a spokesperson for the families, explaining that on Wednesday the boys learned that the German teacher will not be with them at the time of the test, which will be limited to the oral, in presence, in the time slot included. between 14 and 26 June.

To the general director of the Fvg school office, Daniela Beltrame, the parents have expressed all their bewilderment at the situation that has arisen.

“It is useless for us to list – reads the text sent – the enormous difficulties of the last two years of school, the emotional and cultural insecurities that have caused, at various levels, in our children, who are still preparing themselves seriously for the exam, with the fundamental support of the professors, who are helping, supporting and also reassuring them in the drafting of the thesis.

It is inconceivable that in this very important moment, even on an emotional level, due to mere bureaucratic issues, the children cannot count on the presence of all the teachers who accompanied them until the last day of class. Is student well-being really secondary to the regulations for the Italian school? A simple extension of the contract would have been enough ».

The problem, the parents point out, is common to many schools throughout Italy, so much so that the Lazio Regional School Office had provided some indications on the matter, envisaging the stipulation – if necessary – of new employment contracts for substitutes short for teachers who find it impossible to participate in ballots or exams for the expiry of the assignment. While not having a national character, those guidelines – the students’ families observe – could have been taken as a model.
