The 2024 Spring Festival Transport in the Yangtze River Delta region officially kicked off with the departure of the first temporary passenger train, K4177, from Shanghai South Railway Station to Guiyang Station. According to China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., the train set off at 0:04 on January 26, carrying over a thousand passengers on their way home for the Spring Festival.

Traveling a total distance of 2,022 kilometers and lasting 27 hours and 54 minutes, train K4177 will pass through Jiaxing, Hangzhou South, Jinhua, Quzhou, and Huaihua stations. The train achieved a 100% passenger occupancy rate, with a total of 1,377 tickets sold, most of which were destined for Guiyang.

The Yangtze River Delta Railway is expected to transport 89 million passengers during the 40 days of Spring Festival travel in 2024, equivalent to an average of 2.225 million passengers per day. This marks an 18.7% increase compared to the same period in 2019, setting a record high. To accommodate the large passenger flow, the railway department plans to operate an additional 369.5 pairs of passenger trains, focusing on supplementing transportation capacity in popular directions such as Northeast China, Changsha, and Nanchang.

The launch of the first temporary passenger train marks the beginning of the Spring Festival Transport in the Yangtze River Delta, providing a vital transportation link for the millions of passengers traveling during the holiday period.
