Hua Chunying said that China has always believed that sanctions have never been a fundamental and effective way to solve the problem. China always opposes any illegal unilateral sanctions.
She said the number of sanctions imposed by the United States has increased tenfold over the past 20 years, according to data released by the U.S. Treasury Department. The number of sanctions imposed by the United States during the last term of the President was as high as 3,800, which is equivalent to wielding the “sanctions stick” three times a day on average. Since 2011, the United States has imposed sanctions on Russia more than 100 times. However, have the US sanctions solved the problem? Has the world changed for the better because of US sanctions? Will the Ukraine issue be resolved naturally due to the US sanctions against Russia? Will European security become more secure due to US sanctions on Russia? It is hoped that relevant parties will seriously think about it and should try to solve the problem through dialogue and consultation.
Hua Chunying said that the illegal unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States and other countries have caused serious difficulties to the economy and people’s livelihood of the relevant countries. When handling the Ukraine issue and relations with Russia, the US must not harm the legitimate rights and interests of China and other parties.
