The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting on January 31st to deliberate several key reports and regulations, as well as to discuss important tasks for the coming year, as reported by the Xinhua News Agency from Beijing.
One of the key items on the agenda was the “Comprehensive Report of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Hearing and Studying the Work Reports of the Party Group of the National People’s Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People’s Court, and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, and the Work Reports of the Central Secretariat.” In addition to this, the meeting also reviewed the “Summary Report on the Theme Education of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” “Opinions on Consolidating and Expanding Learning and Implementing the Achievements of Education on the Theme of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era,” and the “Regulations on Inspection Work of the Communist Party of China.”
The meeting was presided over by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. The attendees of the meeting fully affirmed the work of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate Party Group and the Central Secretariat since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and agreed with their work arrangements for 2024. It was noted that the five party groups have effectively strengthened the party group’s own construction, and contributed to economic development and social stability.
In looking forward to the year 2024, which marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the meeting stressed the importance of adhering to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and following the highest political principle of centralized and unified leadership of the Party Central Committee. The meeting also emphasized the need to enhance the awareness of struggle and to fulfill the main responsibility of comprehensively and strictly governing the party.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the significant results achieved since the launch of the theme education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It emphasized the need to continue strengthening theoretical arming, promoting the solution of problems, improving work style, and consolidating the foundation of the grassroots.
Another key area of focus was the inspection work of the Communist Party of China, with the party continuously working to improve the party’s self-revolutionary institutional normative system.
In addition to these discussions, the meeting also addressed a number of other important matters.
