The Second Municipal People’s Congress Opens Grandly at the Chongqing Municipal Auditorium
On January 21, the second session of the Sixth Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress opened grandly at the Municipal People’s Auditorium. The executive chairman of the conference is Yuan Jiajun, and the executive chairman of the conference presidium is Wang Jiong.
There were 862 delegates who were supposed to be present at the conference, but 844 delegates actually showed up, which met the quorum.
The guiding ideology of this conference includes the understanding of the decisive significance of the “two establishments” and the strengthening of the “four consciousnesses”. The conference aims to uphold the party’s leadership, have the people be the masters of the country, and govern the country according to the law.
Wang Jiong announced the opening of the conference at 9 a.m., and everyone stood up and sang the national anthem. Hu Henghua then delivered a government work report on behalf of the Municipal People’s Government. The report covers work review in 2023, main tasks in 2024, and comprehensively strengthening the government’s own construction.
Hu Henghua stated that the main expected goals for economic and social development this year are regional GDP growth, industrial added value growth, fixed asset investment growth, general public budget revenue growth, and consumer price growth. The overall requirements for doing government work well are to completely, accurately, and comprehensively implement the new development concept and actively serve and integrate into the new development pattern.
