The state wants to promote day centers for seniors

Live in your own four walls for as long as possible: Senior day centers are an aid to fulfilling this wish for older people. Such care facilities can relieve the burden on caring relatives during the day. And they offer care for older people without immediately needing a nursing home place. In day centers, people eat together, work creatively, read the newspaper together, do memory exercises or simply gossip. However: So far, the offer does not yet cover the need: The state of Styria is now hoping to expand the offer with new incentives: In the future, day care centers with eight places instead of the current minimum of 12 will be able to conclude a funding agreement with the state of Styria. This enables smaller or less financially strong communities to open new day centers. To make things easier, the centers only have to be open at least three days a week in the first half of the year in the initial phase. This regulation applies permanently to day centers with eight places.
