The Yangtze River Delta Railway’s 2024 Spring Festival Transport Plan was recently released, aiming to send 89 million passengers in the 40 days of Spring Festival Transport. This marks an increase of 18.7% compared to the same period in 2019 and sets a record high for the railway department. The plan includes the operation of 369.5 additional pairs of passenger trains to accommodate the large passenger flow.
The 2024 Railway Spring Festival Transport will begin on January 26 and end on March 5, covering 40 days in total, 15 days before and 25 days after the festival. During this year’s Spring Festival, passengers’ willingness to travel is stronger than in previous years, prompting the department to further increase transport capacity supply to meet passenger travel needs.
The Shanghai-Ningbo-Hangzhou area is expected to experience concentrated passenger traffic 15 days before the festival, with large flows also anticipated on major trunk lines and high-speed rail lines. Rail stations in Shanghai, Nanjing, Xuzhou, Hefei, and other locations will also face short-term heavy passenger flow.
Overall, the Yangtze River Delta Railway Department is actively preparing for the upcoming Spring Festival travel season, striving to ensure smooth operations and efficient transportation for millions of passengers.
