After 29 years, Klaus Koch, operator of the popular Essen club “Musikpalette” in downtown Essen, or “Mupa” for short, has retired: the big closing party for the location on Kettwiger Straße took place in March and just six weeks later there was the reopening with a new operator. The club has been a contact point for young people for almost 30 years, a place where friendships and love affairs began and ended. Along with the Prater, it is considered the oldest club in the Ruhr area.
