The Government of President Nayib Bukele, through its Security Cabinet, reported on the dismantling of a structure that was dedicated to depriving the freedom of victims who were captured through social networks and then demanded a large amount of money from their families. to free these people.
According to the Minister of Justice, Gustavo Villatoro, this group of criminals is related to other people found in Colombia and Brazil, who through a messaging application threatened their victims.
Furthermore, according to the investigations, a person of Colombian nationality is in charge of recruiting these criminals.
As part of the raids, the following were seized: 8 cell phones, a tablet, documentation related to bank accounts, an insurance contract and proof of money transfers to another country.
“The Salvadoran people respect each other, we are going to ensure that these individuals are held accountable before justice and make sure to completely dismantle this structure, this country is not the territory of criminals, that is in the past,” Minister Villatoro highlighted.
