Departmental authorities announced a series of measures to prevent kidnappings in the department, after concluding the Government Council where the public order situations recorded were analyzed.
During the Security Council, which was attended by military and police authorities, control entities and some municipal mayors, The positive results of the Public Force were discussed and crucial issues of public order and security were addressed.
«There are events of great concern such as the recent kidnapping that occurred in the municipality of Acevedo. A local reward has been determined and we are going to increase that reward,” said Governor Villalba Mosquera.
The president highlighted the importance of citizen collaboration in preventing kidnapping situations in the department. «This is the worst scourge and we are not going to allow it to prosper. We will redouble our efforts to guarantee security for the people of Huila,” he stated.

In relation to the kidnapping that occurred in Acevedo, where the community has been mobilizing demanding the freedom of the young Eduar Mauricio Muñóz Plazas, a reward of 20 million pesos was announced for information that leads to his release and the capture of those responsible.
Colonel William Lara of the Huila Police Department reported that investigations are being carried out into who was responsible for the kidnapping and reiterated the call for citizen collaboration.
“Four events have occurred in the department of Huila: 2 in Pitalito, which at the end of the investigation of one of the cases was determined to be a self-kidnapping, an event in the municipality of La Plata, where the release was achieved and now in Acevedo where we hope that the articulation and collaboration will allow us to give a positive result as soon as possible,” said the Commander of the Huila Police Department.
Governor Villalba also assured that other incidents are being investigated in bordering areas of Huila and Cauca, with the authorities’ commitment to clarify the facts and design a comprehensive security plan for the department.
