Given the high influx of vehicles entering and leaving the municipalities of the department during Holy Week, the Boyacá Traffic Institute (ITBOY) seeks to protect the life and physical integrity of road actors and achieve the purpose of the National Road Safety Plan 2022-2031, to reduce deaths and injuries caused by road accidents by at least 50%.

This was announced by Carolina Puentes, general manager of ITBOY, who assured that the objective is to prevent behaviors that present a potential risk to the department’s road safety.

For this reason, the Boyacá Traffic Institute will take the necessary pedagogical measures and intensify awareness operations.

Likewise, it will be present in the road corridors to comply with the regulations as follows:

– Control operations are increased during Holy Week at critical points and on the main risk factors, especially use of helmets, alcohol consumption, use of lights and reflective vests on motorcycles, technical-mechanical inspection and speed.

– There will be greater control of vehicles that are dispatched from road passenger transport terminals, in addition to the requirements for their dispatch to the active safety of the vehicles. (lighting systems, braking systems and tire condition).

– Control of the provision of the informal passenger transport service.

– Control of the special public passenger service, in its different modalities.

– Speed ​​control.

– Drunk control.

– Technomechanical review control, not only in regards to having the current certificate, but also to the review of the active safety of the vehicles (lighting systems, braking systems and tire condition, among others).

– Control of drivers of motorcycle-type vehicles and the proper use of personal protection elements.

– Control of the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers.

Finally, the manager recalled that it is essential to comply with these recommendations made by the National Road Safety Agency as the highest authority in the application of the National Government’s Road Safety Public Policy, which seeks to prevent and reduce road accidents, through actions administrative, educational and operational, articulated with the different traffic and transportation authorities, entities of the sector co-responsible for road safety in the country, based on the strategic targeting of actions with a safe system approach, linking the population and integrating it within of a road culture.
