President Colladon to prefect and commissioner: “Impossible to work, the quadrant of Via Roma is now unlivable”
TREVISO. He stops a Mom bus in the middle of the road with a threatening attitude, then gets on board without paying the ticket, threatening the driver of the vehicle.
The episode, yet another, took place early Friday morning near the Treviso train station, in the usual “red” quadrant of Via Roma, at the 6.10 race to Vicenza.
«We can’t take it anymore», exclaims Giacomo Colladon, president of Mobilità di Marca, Mom, «Similar episodes are now on the agenda or almost. But in this way the safety of the drivers is put at risk: I will return to report the problem to the commissioner and prefect, to ask for concrete measures ». For a quadrant increasingly at risk of security between the railway station area, via Roma and via Orioli – places where the Mom urban bus stops – and Lungosile Mattei, home to the Mom suburban blue bus station.
The latest story told by Mom’s number one took shape shortly after the bus left: «The driver told us that a passenger of foreign nationality stood in the middle of the road, screaming that he had to get on. He was outside the stop, where the driver therefore cannot be stopped, yet he wanted to get on the vehicle at all costs, claiming that he could not miss that bus at all.
The exercise control room, which is located in front of the station, was immediately alerted, but the situation remained tense. The driver told the man to wait for the bus at the stop, but he continued to rant, also finding support in another foreign subject. Yes, the tone was threatening. So the driver, to avoid the disaster, had to pick him up. And he did well: in that situation, frankly, he could not behave in any other way ».
Then the “usual” script: «Once on board the driver reminded him to pay, but he didn’t. If the passenger’s documents have been requested? Controllers on board, considering the time, were not there: too early. And most of it was destined for other lines, notably the scholastic ones ». It ended with the driver threatened and forced to continue the journey.
The episode, for Colladon, is the pretext to go back to denouncing the too many threatening behavior and the limit with which the drivers of the provincial public transport company have to deal: “These are situations that we can no longer tolerate, there is a public order problem. The safety of our drivers is endangered, they have been exposed for too long. The one told is only the latest in the series, similar episodes happen too often: there are those who believe they are masters of the road and do not even pay. We cannot continue like this. Safety must be put first ». So the president of Mom decided to return to report the situation to the police station and prefect. The recent semi-fixed position of the municipal police, in via Orioli, apparently serves little purpose.
