The vehicle was devoid of fire extinguishers and safety devices, the Romanian driver did not have professional training qualifications: withdrawal of the license and a fine of two thousand euros

TREVISO. A “bomb” on wheels, with an inadequate driver from the point of view of professional training and the total lack of fire-fighting devices. The Treviso traffic police, engaged this week in specific services aimed at legality checks in the sector of the transport of dangerous goods, surprised an articulated vehicle that was circulating on a municipal road during the night carrying polyurethane diluent in total violation of the regulations (ADR) which regulates the transport of dangerous goods by road.

The polyurethane thinner, used for diluting paints, is highly flammable. The driver of the truck, of Romanian nationality, drove the vehicle – owned by an Italian company – without a professional training certificate, written safety instructions and without individual equipment; moreover, it did not have the required fire extinguishers on board for the transported material and the vehicle did not have the panels indicating the type of dangerous goods transported.

For this conduct, the truck driver had his driving license withdrawn, 20 points deducted and an administrative fine of over 2000 euros, with simultaneous administrative detention of the vehicle. The penalties imposed on the driver will also be extended to the owner of the vehicle and to the client of the transport.
